This Privacy Policy explains what data armeltechfun.com ("armeltechfun", "we", "this site") collects when you read articles, watch videos, subscribe to the newsletter, leave a tip, or contact us — and what we don't collect.
We use Umami, a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics tool that runs on our own server. It records aggregate page views, referrers, and device/browser class without cookies, without cross-site tracking, and without building a profile tied to you personally. No consent banner is shown because nothing that requires one is collected.
Each article's view counter is incremented once per visitor per day. To prevent a single visitor inflating the count, we hash your IP address together with the article and the date into a one-way token, kept in server memory only for that day and never written to the database or logged. We do not store your IP address.
If you subscribe, we store your email address and your language preference (English or French). Subscriptions use double opt-in: you must click a confirmation link sent to your inbox before you receive anything. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, which deletes your subscription immediately — no login required.
We use your email only to send new-article notifications you signed up for. It is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing.
When you use the contact form, we store the name, email address, and message you submit so we can reply. This data is only visible to the site admin and is not used for any other purpose.
If you send a tip, payment is processed entirely by PayPal — we never see or store your card or bank details. We store only what PayPal / the tip form gives us: the supporter name you choose to display (or "Anonymous"), an optional public message, the amount, and the currency, so it can appear on the public supporters wall if you opt in.
Images and other media files are stored on Cloudflare R2. Loading them may expose your IP address to Cloudflare's network in the ordinary course of serving a file, the same as any CDN — Cloudflare does not receive any other data from this site.
This site has no login system for readers. We do not ask for or store passwords, and there is no reader profile beyond the newsletter subscription described above.
You can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, at any time, by emailing contact@armeltechfun.com. Newsletter subscribers can also unsubscribe instantly via the link in any email, without contacting us.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change accordingly. We encourage checking back occasionally.
